Common Questions

What is a Plug Box?

A Plug Box is a purpose-built power solution designed to deliver reliable, everyday power in a form that actually looks good in your space. Each Plug Box features pro-grade 120-Volt outlets, with select models offering built-in USB ports, all housed in a durable metal enclosure. Unlike disposable plastic power strips, Plug Boxes are made to live out in the open — on desks, nightstands, workbenches, and more — combining performance, durability, and design in one clean package.

Why not just use a power strip?

Because Plug Boxes aren’t meant to be temporary or hidden. While typical power strips are made from cheap plastic and designed to be replaced, Plug Boxes are built from metal, assembled with pro-grade components, and designed to live out in the open. They look better, last longer, and deliver dependable power without the compromises of disposable power strips.

What is a Pro Cord?

A Pro Cord is a no-nonsense, heavy-duty extension cord built for people who care about quality. Made with pro-grade cable and durable, high-quality ends, it delivers reliable power without gimmicks or shortcuts. Unlike disposable big-box cords, Pro Cords are built to be used hard, coil clean, and last for years — power you can trust, wherever you need it.

How did this start?

It started with a simple problem: I needed better power. I wanted an extension cord with multiple outlets that didn’t look cheap, and I wanted charging right where I actually use it — on my desk and next to the couch. When nothing out there felt well-built or looked good enough to leave out, I built my own. That first build became the Plug Box: a power solution that works hard, looks cool, and earns its place in your space.

Are they safe?

Yes. Safety is a core part of how every Plug Box is designed and built. Each unit is hand-assembled with care using pro-grade electrical components, proper strain relief, and solid metal enclosures — not flimsy plastic or mystery parts. We build them to meet real-world, everyday use standards, not to cut corners.

Like any electrical product, Plug Boxes should be used responsibly. They’re designed for indoor use, and as with extension cords in general, they shouldn’t be used with high-heat appliances such as space heaters. Used as intended, Plug Boxes provide dependable, safe power you can trust.

Quality materials, thoughtful assembly, and attention to detail make the difference — and that’s exactly what we focus on.

Are Plug Boxes custom?

Yes — and flexible by design. We offer a lineup of standard Plug Box designs, regularly build limited one-off pieces for our store, and can customize just about anything to fit your space or use case. From cord length and color to outlet configuration and finishes, if you have something specific in mind, we can build it.

They seem... expensive?

They are — by design. Plug Boxes aren’t made for people who just need power; they’re made for people who care about how that power shows up in their space. We use premium components, real metal enclosures, and thoughtfully chosen outlets (including integrated USB options that cost significantly more than standard parts). None of that is cheap, and we don’t pretend it is.

Plug Boxes are intentional overkill. They’re solid, heavy, and unapologetically well-built — the kind of product that makes a statement the moment you pick it up. If you’re looking for the cheapest way to plug something in, a plastic power strip will do. If you appreciate quality, durability, and design — and want power that looks as good as it performs — a Plug Box is worth it.
